How did you get started with online shopping?

“When the coronavirus pandemic hit, it was crucial for us to start shopping online,” says Stefan. “We actually tried a few different places. We found the store where we usually shop a bit complicated, difficult to find delivery times and so on. Then we tested buying food from a new store. They usually deliver the items the same day or the next day. And we get good products. And what’s so convenient about shopping for groceries online is that you get a list of what we bought last time. The majority of what we buy are the same things. These days, as the coronavirus has started to disappear, we’re adding a few things from our nearest store, but we still do most of our shopping online. And it’s so nice to have everything delivered to your door. During the coronavirus pandemic, we also started to buy medicines online. It’s just as quick as going to the pharmacy yourself. They usually deliver the same day, so we have carried on doing this.”

What else have you bought online, perhaps something that is difficult to find in a regular store?

“Yes,” says Kristin, “Stefan buys almost everything online, but listen to this. I’m doing so much work in the garden and it takes a lot of soil. And the bags are heavy, so Stefan found an electric wheelbarrow on a website in Austria! And we have each bought a pair of trainers from Lilla skobutiken in Kungshamn!”

In Kungshamn, why?

“We were in a store here in Stockholm that is meant to be good. I have problems with my feet and have to wear good shoes. So he found a pair of shoes that were pretty good, but they didn't have them in my size. But the shoes seemed good. So when we came home, we searched online and found them at Lilla skobutiken in Kungshamn. We each ordered a pair, I ordered half a size larger than I normally take.”

Have you had to send something back?

“Once I sent back a T-shirt,” says Kristin. “It came with a bag to return it in. I didn't really know what to do, so I put it in the postbox and it was all fine. It’s actually the only time we’ve sent something back. Otherwise we get the right things. But it’s reassuring to know that we have the right to cancel and return.”

Have you ever felt unsafe when shopping?

“Well, maybe,” Stefan says, thinking about it – “when we first started ordering something from the USA it felt a bit scary, a little uncertain. But once we'd done it, it felt fine.”

What do you usually do about payment?
“Travel is the only thing I pay by credit card,” Stefan explains. “Then I also get travel insurance. In store I pay by card. I can't remember when I last had cash. I always tap and pay, it’s so convenient. However, I haven't added the card on my mobile, my daughter has added it to her watch.”

What do you think about BankID?

“Of course we use BankID. We check our balance, do transactions via mobile banking and so on, just as I do on my computer. You wouldn't be able to manage without BankID – it’s absolutely brilliant. Many people don't have BankID, I think they miss out on so much that makes everyday life easier, actually.”

Was it difficult to get BankID?

“No, not at all, I went into my local bank branch and they helped me. No problems at all.”

Good to know!

If you use your BankID in an environment where there is a risk of someone else seeing your code,
use Face ID (face recognition) or the fingerprint reader (if your mobile has one).
Then you never have to enter your code where someone might see it.
